Fresh appeal for foster carers on Island

A fresh appeal for foster carers on the Island has been launched.

The call has gone out from Fostering First, the organisation responsible for foster care across the Island.

As it stands there are 125 children in care on the Island, with 57 of those looked after by foster families.

Of these 57, 18 are under five years old, and 23 are teenagers.

There are currently 43 approved foster caring families, but more are desperately needed.

As well as providing accommodation and support for the children another crucial role of a carer is to bring about stability to their lives.

The only pre requisite is that you're over the age of 21, Fostering First will provide ongoing training packages and financial remuneration to cover expenses. For more information about Fostering First click here, email fosteringfirst@thechildrenscentre.org.im or call 631947.
