Four-hour wait at A&E over Xmas, says department

The Department of Health and Social Care says patients had to wait for more than four hours in Accident and Emergency on Boxing Day.

In a freedom of information request, the department was asked how long those needing treatment on December 26 had to wait.

In response, the department said on average people spent 252 minutes waiting to be seen by medics.

But it added the average time to be seen over the festive period was 205 minutes.
