Pupils in Manx schools are being taught Creationism, according to the Department of Education and Children.
A freedom of information request has revealed the belief – which contradicts science-based evolution and the Big Bang Theory – is being taught or discussed in 11 schools by people other than teachers.
The figures show 21 of the Island’s 37 schools include Creationism in their syllabus.
The department says it’s usually discussed in school assemblies or Religious Education lessons – and adds it’s not taught as fact.
