A neighbour dispute resulted in an assault on a man in his own garden.
Ian Pressley, of Snugborough Avenue in Union Mills appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood at Douglas Courthouse for sentencing.
The 50 year old was convicted of assault after a trial.
Pressley reportedly received threats after giving evidence at a previous trial - in March last year he decided to take matters into his own hands and attacked the victim in their own garden, punching them three or four times as they lay on the ground.
He was given an 18-month probation order, and was ordered to pay £1,500 costs and £100 compensation.
