Details of Olympic Flame Island visit revealed

The details surrounding the visit of the Olympic Flame to the Isle of Man have been revealed today.

Throughout its journey of the UK torch bearers will carry the flame around more than 1,000 villages, towns and cities in the run up to next summers Olympic Games in London.

It will be reaching the Island during TT 2012 on June 2; while here it will be stopping at Douglas, Laxey, Onchan, Ballsalla and Castletown to name but a few.

It's believed that the Manx Electric Railway will play a big part in the visit, its also confirmed that it will be transported along a stretch of the TT course on a sidecar.

The route was confirmed by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, chairman of the body Sebastian Coe has said 'we are thrilled to confirm the flame will be visiting the Isle of Man as part of its journey'.
