DED chief executive on secondment to Sark

Colin Kniveton

The civil servant in charge of the Department of Economic Development is leaving the Island to help develop one of the world’s smallest self-governing states.

Chief executive Colin Kniveton will take a short-term secondment to turn his attention to Sark - barely twice the size of the Calf of Man.

With a population of just 600, Sark is the smallest of the four main Channel Islands.

The government says Mr Kniveton will help establish a ‘modern and democratic system of government’ there.

He’ll take up the role on November 1st for an initial period of four months.

Mr Kniveton will be replaced by Social Care chief executive Chris Corlett during this time. Yvette Mellor will in turn fill that vacancy.

Mr Kniveton's secondment is at no cost to the Manx taxpayer.
