Douglas Coastguards were called out yesterday after reports of children trying to swim to the Tower of Refuge in Douglas.
Members of the public raised the alarm shortly before 6pm.
When officers arrived, the group of youths had made their way back to shore.
Officers spent half an hour explaining the dangers of trying to reach the tower.
