Today saw the launch of the seasonal campaign promoting the simple message of don\'t drink and drive this Christmas and New Year .
The campaign takes the form of pub style specials blackboards, advertising a 12 month driving ban, fine of up to £5,000 and criminal record if caught drinking and driving.
Even drinking a small amount can affect a person's ability to drive safely.
Police officers will be out in force throughout the Christmas period, the message will also be hammered home through radio adverts and posters.
At today's official launch, Minister David Cretney said the safety team were keen to keep building on the success of previous years and ensure incidents are kept to an absolute minimum.
