Chief Minister Says Bowl Deal Will Collapse Unless Car Park is Included
The Chief Minister issued a frank and honest response to a question in Tynwald today about the current status of the Bowl purchase.
Douglas South MHK Bill Malarkey asked the Chief Minister why the Government wouldn’t accept the Bowl Stadium for £1 from Douglas Borough Council without the Car-park.
Michael MHK David Cannan also raised concerns as to why the important refurbishment was being halted over the Car Park.
The Chief Minister answered bluntly saying they weren’t going to budge on the decision and no transfer of land would take place unless the car park was included in the deal.
Getting the Bowl redeveloped in time for the 2011 Youth Games all hinged on the success of the transfer from Douglas Council over to the Government.
As it stands it looks as though this won’t happen.
