Douglas Council says it wants to clarify lights in eight locations around the capital in January and February won't be Christmas illuminations.
It's says reports 13 new gobo lights costing £7,750 would be Christmas-specific are not true - adding they'll be alternative seasonal displays that are appropriate for January and February.
The illuminations at Ridgeway Street, Victoria Street, Windsor Road, The Terrace, North and South Quay, Douglas Head, The Drives and Victoria Road will remain in place after the festive season.
The lights will cost around £4,500 to run over the two months.
