Tory leadership candidate Boris Johnson was allegedly seen holding aloft a Manx kipper at a hustings in London yesterday.
The contender to become Prime Minister claimed a Manx kipper smoker on Island was 'utterly furious' because his costs had apparently been increased by EU rules as it had to be transported with an ice pillow.
It was as Mr Johnson criticised EU food regulations, saying Brexit would be the solution in removing, what he says, is the damage such rules can cause to the industry.
The hustings event involving Mr Johnson and rival Jeremy Hunt was the largest of 17 of them, with thousands attending at the ExCel - the winner of the two will be announced next Tuesday.
