Nigel Bazley has been chosen as the new chairman of Malew Commissioners, just weeks after becoming a member of the local authority.
He topped the poll in a by-election held last month, and has now been elected chair by fellow members at his first commissioners’ meeting.
Mr Bazley has promised to build new lines of communication between the local authority and the community, and to feedback to the public what the board ‘can and can’t do’.
The newly elected commissioner replaces Bob Pilling in the role, who resigned earlier this year, along with Barbara and John Brereton, which triggered the by-election.
Margaret Mansfield will remain vice-chair.
