Baines' possessions go under the hammer

Jewellery including this ring will go under the hammer

Jewellery and personal possessions belonging to a former millionaire who was jailed for money laundering will be sold today in order to clear his debts.

89 lots belonging to Trevor Baines and his wife Wendy will go under the hammer at the Empress Hotel in Douglas. 

One stand out piece that’s set to cause a stir is a Tiffany ring which was reputedly made for Judy Garland. 

Most of the couple’s furniture and other large possessions have already been sold through auction in order to raise the capital needed to pay off debts owed to the Attorney General. 

Auction viewing is between 12pm and 6pm today with the sale starting at 7pm.

Auctioneer David McNeill says this should mark the end of proceedings:
