Local authorities should be able to buy properties on the Island if they're left to fall into a bad state by their owners.
That's according to North Douglas MHK David Ashford - he'll raise the idea in the House of Keys next week.
During questions he'll ask the Infrastructure Minister if there are any plans to give councillors and commissioners more powers to tackle dilapidated buildings.
Mr Ashford says the current law doesn't work:
