American flag to fly in memory of air disaster

The American Flag is flying on North Barrule today to mark the anniversary of the Island's worst air disaster.

It's been 70 years since the American Flying Fortress bomber crashed in low cloud killing all 31 men on board. 
 
Although a fully-equipped war plane, the bomber was on a peaceful mission to Northern Ireland at the time.
