The Department of Infrastructure wants an extra £1.7m to spend on improving the condition of the roads.
Minister David Cretney will ask for the supplementary sum at this month’s sitting of Tynwald.
The money would be used to repair key routes across the island.
Director of Highways Richard Pearson says the extra cash would offset a reduction in funding availability:
