Douglas Council says it hasn't officially approved a planning application for a new mobile phone mast - because that's the planning committee's job.
The local authority's environmental services committee had discussed plans from Sure to put the mast in Hailwood Avenue in Douglas.
But the council says reports it's approved the mast are misleading as it only decided not to object to the planning application.
Council leader David Christian says the council is a statutory consultee about such planning applications but the final decision rests with the government's committee.
