Union leaders are calling on Chief Minister Chris Thomas to explain recruitment arrangements for the top job in the Department of Education, Sport and Culture.
The Isle of Man TUC says UK recruitment consultants are being used as the government looks to appoint a new chief officer for the department.
The union says as government has its own recruitment teams, it can't understand why public money's being spent on external consultants.
It's calling for Mr Thomas to explain the arrangements, how much cash is being paid and how it'll represent value for money.
