TV licence U-turn after change was dubbed 'great pain for little gain'

Elderly people on the Isle of Man will have their free TV licences reinstated after a Tynwald U-turn.

The controversial decision - to make people aged 75 and over pay the licence fee - was revoked earlier this week; one MHK described it as something that had caused 'great pain for little gain'. 
 
Onchan MHK Rob Callister told the court the issue was a 'massive concern and worry' for his constituents in the run up to the General Election:   
 
 
The Treasury Minister confirmed free licences will return and those who'd bought one since September 1st will be refunded - however Alf Cannan says it can't be done with immediate effect:
