Tax deadline looms for employers

The government's reminding employers and contractors their tax return deadline is fast approaching.

Returns for the 2025 to 2026 tax year must be submitted by Tuesday, May 5 or they'll face a £250 late penalty.

Further fines of £50 per day may be given after this date.

The government's encouraging businesses to submit returns online, including smaller ones which aren't yet registered with online services - for help, you can contact the tax office on these details:
