A 25-year-old man has been handed a suspended prison sentence after spitting at a police officer.
Jake Flood, who's of no fixed address, was told his actions were 'unpleasant and distressing' during his sentencing hearing at Douglas Courthouse this week.
Police were called to Star Grill and Pizza on Marina Road in Douglas at 8pm on November 23 after Flood became abusive towards staff.
He spat at the female PC and was arrested - he later pleaded guilty to affray and assaulting a police officer.
Flood's advocate told the court he'd been 'heavily intoxicated' at the time adding: "It was a rather ugly scene that evening."
Sentencing Flood to 20 weeks custody, suspended for two years, Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes also imposed a Suspended Sentence Supervision Order and a one-year licensing ban.
