Surprise arrival delights Wildlife Park staff

Curragh's Wildlife Park is celebrating an unexpected new arrival - a baby Brazillian tapir.

New mum Louka moved to the park from France in July to join the resident male Thackery with the intention of breeding. 
 
But general manager Kathleen Graham says it happened far sooner than expected: 
 
 
It's now been established that the tapir was in the early stages of pregnancy when she first came to the Island. 
Kathleen says so far it hasn't caused any problems:
