Summerland, Energy Price Hikes and Cancer Treatment Up For Discussion in Tynwald

Work Begins to Get Summerland Site Redeveloped

In this mornings sitting of the House of Keys a variety of issues have been up for debate.

Most significant perhaps is the news that the dormant Summerland site could finally be redeveloped.

Companies will be asked to submit their proposals for the site from next Thursday, it’s hoped the results of the tender will be announced before the Summer break.

MEA Chairman Quentin Gill has been answering questions about the impending energy bill price hike.

He said for those unable to cope with the 7% increase the Treasury have agreed to offer financially support.

DHSS Minister Eddie Teare has said he is considering the possibility of hiring, at a cost of £1 million, a new consultant and extra staff which would stop people needing to go off Island for breast reconstruction surgery or Chemo and Radiation.
