Social care minister to make Housing Review statement

In next weeks Tynwald sitting, Social Care Minister, Chris Robertshaw is due to make a statement concerning the extensive Housing Review currently being carried out.

The Housing Review was commissioned in an effort to tackle future problems relating to the provision of good quality affordable housing in the face of increases in numbers of small households, a population living longer and changing public expectations.

It’s currently out to public consultation, with the findings expected to shape future policy on the matter.

The department are currently dealing with an annual deficit of £7 million, this is expected to rise to £15 million within five years, something the Minister has described as simply not sustainable.

The consultation has been extended to a June 7th deadline in an effort to get as much feedback from the public as possible.
