The chief minister has confirmed Meary Veg will be used to plant 85,000 trees on the Isle of Man.
The pledge to plant them is in support of the government's commitment to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Howard Quayle MHK confirmed after an inspection, Meary Veg was chosen as the preferred site for the project.
'The People's Wood' is expected to be completed by 2021, with a forest manager being appointed next year.
