A teenager who stole to fuel his legal high habit has been handed a 12 month probation order and told he must pay compensation to the victims of his crimes.
17-year-old Joseph Hunter was sentenced at Douglas Courthouse yesterday after previously pleading guilty to four counts of theft.
The Douglas man admitted stealing items to the value of £54 from the Howard's Convenience Shopping Centre on February 9th as well as another theft there a month earlier on January 10th.
He also stole from the Co-op in Douglas the same day and admitted stealing a North Face jacket from TK Maxx on February 24th - he went in put the jacket on underneath his own and walked out.
Hunter told police he couldn't remember carrying out the thefts because he was using "excessive amounts" of a drug called Sky High.
His advocate told the court he was a "confused and misguided man" adding "several convenience stores have been inconvenienced by Mr Hunter".
Sentencing him the magistrates told him he hadn't considered there were victims at the end of his crimes - he was also ordered to pay £134 in compensation and £125 in prosecution costs.
