Road Re-Surfacing Scheme to Improve Safety of Roads
The
Department of Infrastructure have launched their yearly tar and chip
surface dressing scheme.
The overall aim of the annual work is
to improve the surface and texture of the Island’s roads.
It
also improves road safety improving skid resistance on the road surface.
It’s seen as one of the most cost effective forms of highway
maintenance.
Approximately 14 and half miles of highway – equating to 2.5% of
the road network – will be surface dressed this summer. This year’s
budget for surface dressing is £410,000.
