Immediate risks to patient safety at Noble’s Hospital will be addressed – with ‘no stone being left unturned’.
The Department of Health and Social Care says it will act on a review from the West Midlands Quality Review Service which gives a mixed opinion on services.
Following the November review immediate risks were found in both critical care and theatre and anaesthetics.
Concerns were raised that an emergency theatre was not available during daytime hours – and that theatres were sometimes understaffed.
In the critical care department there was no medical lead as a consultant was not available 24/7 and the continuity of care was described as poor.
The department’s system of managing patients with trauma in the emergency department also did not meet expected UK standards.
Jane Emison is the acting director of the review team – she says there were other systematic issues:
MHK to present immigration petition to Tynwald
Injured walker rescued from Snaefell
Town centre road shut for five days this week
Royal Assent for laws giving parents and carers more rights
New cafe opens in iconic former pub
Have your say on the Island's childcare
Service to be held for long-serving RNLI volunteer
Road in south to shut for cat's eyes installation
