Report flags up 'immediate risks' at Noble's Hospital

Immediate risks to patient safety at Noble’s Hospital will be addressed – with ‘no stone being left unturned’.

The Department of Health and Social Care says it will act on a review from the West Midlands Quality Review Service which gives a mixed opinion on services.

Following the November review immediate risks were found in both critical care and theatre and anaesthetics.

Concerns were raised that an emergency theatre was not available during daytime hours – and that theatres were sometimes understaffed.

In the critical care department there was no medical lead as a consultant was not available 24/7 and the continuity of care was described as poor.

The department’s system of managing patients with trauma in the emergency department also did not meet expected UK standards.
