Rare opportunity to walk to Tower of Refuge

There is a rare opportunity for members of the public to walk out to the Tower of Refuge over the Easter weekend.

Douglas Development Partnership and the RNLI have organised an escorted walk to the famous landmark on Saturday, April 7.

Sir William Hillary, the founder of the life saving institution, proposed the idea of building the tower in the early 1800s to aid shipwrecked crews and their passengers.

Members of the RNLI will be on hand on the day to talk about the landmark and to raise money for the cause.

The event is open to everyone and, subject to tide conditions, is expected to start at 5.45pm.

For more information contact the Douglas Development Partnership on 696304.
