Public meeting to discuss Port St Mary marine environment

Members of the public and stakeholders will be able to discuss concerns about the marine environment in Port St Mary this evening.

DEFA Minister Phil Gawne is chairing the meeting which will look in particular at the damage reportedly being caused by local scallop dredgers.

Mr Gawne has said he would like to hear the opinions on how to move forward from a wide range of people including commercial fishermen, anglers, divers and tourists.

It’s hoped that a way forward can be found before the scallop season starts on November 1st.
