Possible changes planned for redundancy payments

Changes could be in store for statutory redundancy payments on the Island.

Currently standing at 65 or lower, age restrictions on the entitlement to redundancy pay could be discarded and a cap on payments may be imposed.

It comes as part of government's main consultation on the Equality Bill - which has highlighted the need for legislation to prohibit discrimination on the grounds of characteristics like disability, gender, and race.

Stopping payment rebates to smaller employers and changing the calculation of basic awards for unfair dismissal also form part of the discussions.

Documents relating to the consultation can be found on the gov.im website.
