Police now have the power to issue some endorsable fixed-penalty notices.
It's aimed at reducing the number of low-level and high-volume driving offences dealt with by the courts.
The Department of Home Affairs says officers' enforcement approach won’t change, but fines and penalty points will be imposed without motorists needing to attend court.
The measure is part of changes brought about by the introduction of the Island’s Criminal Justice Strategy – which is set to save around £100,000 a year.
