The Police have confirmed that they dispatched an armed response unit to an area thought to be Prince's Avenue in Douglas today.
They said that it was a precautionary measure whilst they make a number of enquiries in relation to an ongoing investigation.
They have stressed that there are no threats to public safety in relation to the matter.
Concluding their statement they apologised for any inconvenience caused to the public whilst the incident was contained.
