The planning committee has voted unanimously against plans for a new sewage treatment plant in Laxey.
The news was confirmed in 'Best 4 Laxey Bay' - a public group on social media earlier today.
Proposals for the new plant - which were unveiled earlier this year, have been met by strong opposition by residents in Laxey.
Major concerns voiced by those in the village were smell, noise and the negative effect it could have on both locals and tourism.
As a result, Garff commissioners agreed unanimously to formally object to the plans arguing that an alternative site be found.
