Planning application submitted for anchor memorial

Port St Mary Commissioners have submitted a planning application to erect a memorial for the anchor of a Steam Packet ship that was sunk at Dunkirk.

The Mona’s Queen anchor was brought back to the Island last year after being raised in 2010 as part of the 70th anniversary commemorations of Operation Dynamo.

It is hoped that the anchor, which will be located at Kallow Point, will serve as a permanent memorial for those that gave their lives during World War Two.

Chairman of Port St Mary Commissioners, Christopher Kinley, told 3FM more about the plans.
