Permission granted for £600,000 fire training facility

Minister for Home Affairs Juan Watterson

Permission has been granted to build a new £600,000 live fire training facility in Douglas. 

It will be built on land near to the Energy from Waste Plant and will mean firefighters no longer have to go off the Island for training. 
 
Home Affairs Minister Juan Watterson says the cost of that was becoming restrictive: 
 
 
The facility has a 20-year-lifespan and will provide realistic fire conditions including heat and humidity - Mr Watterson says it's also needed because of the lack of experience within the service:
