Pay awards for Douglas Council staff to be funded from existing resources

It’s been confirmed by Douglas Borough Council leader David Christian that any future staff pay awards will have to be funded from existing resources.

The Councilor made the announcement at a meeting of the policy and resources committee.

He said it wouldn’t be right to pass the financial burden onto the ratepayers, who themselves wouldn’t have experienced pay increases over the past few years.

Any pay increases will come from the current workforce budget, even if that means not filling vacant posts – says Councilor Christian.

There was a positive response from his fellow council members who supported his pay agreement stance.
