Olympic Torch route revealed

Further details have been released about the route that the Olympic Torch will take when it visits the Island in June.

The torch will be brought to the Isle of Man on Saturday, June 2, which is the first day of race week.

To mark the TT, the torch will be driven along a short section of the course by local sidecar star Dave Molyneux.

It will then move to Battery Pier where Douglas Lifeboat will launch it into the sea, before it’s transferred back to dry land for a trip on the Horse Trams and Electric Railway.

The torch’s visit will then conclude with visits to Laxey and Castletown.

Around 115 torchbearers will carry the flame during its 8,000 mile journey through the UK before it arrives at the Olympic Stadium on July 27.
