Oldham man accused of punching woman in face

A man from Oldham has been accused of punching a local woman in the face after she spurned his sexual advances.

25-year-old Louie Hobin appeared at Douglas Courthouse earlier this week where he denied one charge of GBH from May 19th.

It's alleged that Hobin met three women in a pub in Douglas the previous evening - he bought them drinks but then made unwanted sexual advances towards one of them.

The four left the pub together in the early hours and Hobin was said to again make an approach asking the woman to go home with him.

She declined - Hobin then allegedly punched her once in the face, knocking her unconscious - she suffered a broken cheekbone, chipped tooth and swelling to the face.

The case has been adjourned until July 28th when committal proceedings are expected to take place before Hobin stands trial at the Court of General Gaol Delivery.

Update - May 2017: Hobin changed his plea and was sentenced on July 28th 2016. He was ordered to carry out 240 hours of community service and ordered to pay £2,500 to the complainant in the case as well as prosecution costs of £250.
