Manx Public Urged to be Wary After Scam Call Suckers List Was Uncovered
The Office of Fair Trading have issued a warning to the Manx Public to be wary of cold callers.
The fresh warning comes after the UK Financial Services Authority have uncovered a list of 38,000 names across the UK who havebeen identified as people likely to be interested in whatever the scammers are offering.
The list has become known as the suckers list.
The recent crop of cold calling is in relation to selling shares, with the average investor losing £20,000.
Anybody who is offered shares over the phone is urged to hang up the phone immediately.
Andrea Tabb from the OFT says no matter how persistent the callers are you should never deal with them.
