Braddan commissioners say they want to buy dozens of homes in the area's biggest new development.
At its last meeting, the board agreed to buy try to buy at least 30 new homes at Braddan Woods.
Hartford Homes is building 320 homes, a neighbourhood centre, primary school and retirement home on fields between Peel Road, Ballafletcher Road and Tromode Road.
The local authority says it would buy the homes to use for social housing.
