The Department of Education, Sport and Culture says it doesn't have the cash to save the Island's Family Library.
In Tynwald this week, departmental member Paul Craine said since 2011, the only government involvement has been to offer a £50 per year peppercorn rent on the Westmoreland Road building.
Earlier this month, it announced it would shutter all services at the end of July without an extra £100,000 a year.
Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper asked if the department could help save the facility, but Mr Craine said there was no money:
