New MHK's to have swearing in ceremony today

Speaker of the House will be elected in today\'s sitting

The new look House of Keys will officially get underway today when the 24 successful politicians from Thursday’s election will be sworn in.

The swearing in ceremony takes place in the Council of Ministers chamber at 11.30am, it sees the different constituency representatives pledge the next five years to government.

There are 7 new faces joining the house, with former ministers Adrian Earnshaw, Anne Craine and Martyn Quayle unsuccessful in their bid for re-election.

After the ceremony the first sitting of the house will commence at 2.30 this afternoon with the first item on the agenda, the election of the new speaker of the House of Keys.

The new chief minister will be selected in next Tuesday’s sitting.
