Murray’s Road and Ballaquayle schools have appointed Linda Green as their new combined headteacher.
This comes after the current head of Murray’s Road, Steve Taylor, announced he will step down from the role at half-term after 15 years.
Mr Taylor has decided to return to classroom teaching at primary level.
The Department of Education and Children has now signalled that it will press on with its aim of combining the schools under a single headteacher.
This will be Mrs Green, who’s been head of Ballaquayle for 14 years.
The department said this would ensure even greater continuity and consistency for the children.
