New care to benefit young diabetics

A new pioneering way of delivering care for youngsters with type 1 diabetes will be introduced this month.

The Manx Diabetic Group charity have purchased a number of special pumps that are replacing the need for multiple lifesavings daily injections.

The pumps will vastly improve the quality of life and control of their diabetes, which in turn will lead to fewer complications down the line, reducing the financial burden on the NHS.

The statistics show that badly controlled diabetes causes more deaths per year than breast cancer and AIDS combined.

They will be introducing the pumps on the eve of World Diabetes Day next Monday.
