More insight into the Island\'s young out of work population was gained in Tynwald yesterday.

Speaker of the House, Steve Rodan, asked the Chief Minister how many people aged between 16 and 25 had been actively seeking work during last month.

He also asked what encouragement is given to this age group, both financially and from Companies on Island.

Minister Bell revealed that last month just under 450 of this age group where registered with the Job Centre or receiving Job Seekers allowance, therefore are deemed to be actively seeking work.

He also said how the Department of Economic Development are actively encouraging companies on the Island to engage in work placement programmes with young unemployed people, out of 58 recent placements, 22 have resulted in full time employment.
