More sailings cancelled due to high winds

All of today\'s sailings have been cancelled with forecast winds expected to reach gale force 10 as we move into the day.

The final crossing from Douglas to Heysham at 7.45pm is also likely to be cancelled however a definitive decision will be made by 5.00pm.

It spells further disruption to freight supplies reaching the Island, with that situation set to worsen as we move into next week.

With the Ben-my-Chree going into dry dock for emergency repairs it was hoped the Manannan would be supplemented by an additional freight service.

This has now fallen through with the vessel beset my technical and weather issues.

When able to sail the Manannan will however be able to cope with a small amount of freight.

Chief Executive of the Steam Packet Mark Woodward has said finding an additional charter at this late stage is highly unlikely.
