3FM have spoken to the Managing Director of Mezeron, Norman Leece, following their first freight cancellation of the year.
The decision was taken as winds reached force 11.
Commenting on the Steam Packet's situation the Managing Director has described it as unavoidable given the consistently treacherous conditions.
When asked if Mezeron would be able to take on some of the freight backlog he said they are currently operating a full schedule with their usual customers, but is confident all it will take is two days of uninterrupted sailings to get things back on track.
Mr Leece has put out an appeal to the Manx public for a better understanding of the situation.
