Lengthy Inquiry Soon to Reach Conclusion
It’s been confirmed by the Diocese of Sodor and Man and Maughold Parochial Church that after a lengthy inquiry a 55 year old man from Maughold Church has been charged with 8 offences of theft, and 10 offences of false accounting.
The inquiry started back in October 2008 when a then 53 year Canon David Green was arrested amid allegations of financial irregularity at the village church.
The investigation nearly spanning 2 years has centred on irregularities concerning the Maughold Burial Authority.
In this time Canon Green suffered a heart attack and has subsequently been seriously ill – the reasoning behind the lengthy investigation.
The 55 year old has been bailed and is due back in court on 3rd August.
