A thief who stole almost a £1 million from his wife's grandfather has lost an appeal against his nine-year prison sentence.
Garry Richard Vernon of Sulby was jailed in April after a 12-day trial found him guilty of taking the money to feed his gambling addiction.
He argued his sentence was too long and failed to take into account his mitigation.
However, Judge of Appeal Cross and Acting Deemsters Wild and Smith said the sentence was appropriate, adding the theft had caused immeasurable tragedy for his family.
